Joseph Paul Leighton is a self-taught artist who has spent the last 20 years developing his craft. Although his experience began with graphite drawings, he has since branched off into acrylic on canvas, custom design, large-scale murals and sculpture. Leighton’s work portrays an insightful, yet palpable perspective, arousing the senses and cultivating a genuine connection to his art.

As a former combat marine who served two tours overseas, in the wake of September 11th, and now a Firefighter for his hometown, his private work takes viewers on a profound journey through his own personal experiences. However, his primary focus is on engineering the visions of his clients, through a myriad of art forms. Leighton has completed multiple large-scale murals for business owners and for private homeowner’s alike. Each design includes optional 3-Dimensional sculptures, quite literally bringing the images to life. His most recent mural can be seen on Highway 95 in Rhode Island. This mural was his largest feat yet at 5,000 square feet, and supported the building owner’s non-profit sponsor, Metta Students.

Leighton’s work can also be found at multiple locations across Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Not only did he sculpt the mascot for the prestigious RI golf course, The Preserve at Boulder Hills, but he also designed and drew their logo. His paintings and drawings are featured in various art and consignment shops throughout Rhode Island, and his murals can be found on the interior and exterior walls of local schools, shops, and assorted buildings in New England. It is his honor to examine and understand the ideas of his prospective clients, in order to manifest and materialize their dreams.
